Artist Statement / Biography
Great organic fabrics, natural fibers naturally dyed...sustainable, slow fashion, supporting agriculture!
Come see the glorious colors that can be created from natural dyeing. My focus is pure colors on silk, linen and cotton from plants, tree bark and insects.
The silk is mordanted to allow the fiber to retain the color. Then one at a time each scarf is dyed. The scarves make beautiful gifts or are wonderfully self indulgent. It will be hard to choose between all the colors!
My handmade hats, shawls, scarves are made by me from the finest yarns available from the US, Europe and South Africa.
I create my wearables by using free-form crochet, though consistently formed! I create what I want to wear myself- super soft, luxurious yet wearable every day.
Come to our barn studio that captures the soft northern and eastern light.
My husband Christopher James will be joining me this year in the studio.....check out his Gorgeous paintings!
