Inspiration for my work comes, in large part, from a deeply rooted appreciation of nature. I am enchanted by the colors and textures of the natural world and my hope is to convey the feeling that is evoked when surrounded by its sublime majesty. I enjoy abstracting the subject by manipulating perspective and adding texture or elements of collage to create a subjective impression of my experience.
I work in many mediums, although I am primarily a painter. Painting teaches me to look more closely at the world around me and better appreciate its beauty.
Laura Blackmer graduated from Franklin Pierce University in 2016 with a BA in Fine Arts. There she discovered a love for many mediums and she has continued to explore and experiment since.
