With glass, each piece is a labor of love.
Hot, sweaty love.
Two-thousand degrees of love.
Dip your blowpipe into the crucible of clear, molten glass.
What happens then is all according to a plan.
That plan begins with a limitless imagination.
The subsequent art is a fascination for any viewer.
Celebrating 5 years of being in business this December, Dominique is the part-owner of Terrapin Glassblowing Studio in Jaffrey.
Dominique began glassblowing during the Spring Semester of her senior year at Franklin Pierce University with Eva Goodman. With plans to attend Antioch University, working towards a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Dom searched out opportunities to continue working with glass. Over a year later, and after much self-contemplation, she realized that a tweak in her career path was needed. Dom needed glass to be happy.
After doing extensive research Dominique started to lean towards an Expressive Therapies Degree, in which she could gear the focus towards glass. There was one large obstacle with this plan, there were no local glass studios in which Dom could easily work. Coming together with her parents, Anne Marie and James, a business plan was made to fill that void; Terrapin Glassblowing Studio.
Since 2011, Terrapin Glass has been working tirelessly to make the wonderful art of glassblowing, flameworking, and fused glass available to the Monadnock Region and Beyond. The studio is open to the public for free tours and demonstrations, as well as lessons for all levels of expertise, and studio rentals for experienced glassblowers. Dominique still has the goal of bringing Expressive Therapies into Terrapin Glass, hoping to pursue her Master’s Degree in the future.
For now, Terrapin Glass is busy constantly taking on more space and renovating in their studio warehouse right off Route 202 in Jaffrey. The goal of being an art center for glass, as well as other mediums, is here on the horizon.
In her free time away from her studio Dominique loves to spend time working on her Victorian-Colonial home and spending time with her niece. Dominique is very active volunteering for a variety of community-related organizations and activities; appreciating all that the Monadnock Region has to offer.

A very unique glass memorial made for a dear friend Summer 2015.
2016 has brought a new chicken passion for Dominique, in the hot shop, as well as in her backyard! :)
Dominique has been working on this series for a number of years with flameworking artist, Ann Conlin, out of Tewksbury, MA.
Dom makes the larger vessel, while Ann uses her flameworkers skill of small details to add the outside design. These pieces are completely made from glass, put together while hot.
Terrapin Glass is very excited to show off our large mural, going around the outside of the building, and constantly expanding!
A cute piggy bank for other critter lovers.
Dom playing with some molten glass, which is very similar to the texture of honey. We will be doing glassblowing demonstrations all weekend of the Art Tour!
