Alicia Drakiotes

Artist Statement

I am inspired by the world around me and try to convey the moment and the mood in my color choices, painterly marks and arrangements. Whether the piece is accomplished entirely on site or finished in the studio post outing, capturing and conveying a sense of place is my goal in my pastel and oil paintings.

It is the mood and illumination I find evocative in my works of local landscape and coastal paintings. I find it important to incorporate a painterly style in my art, which adds to the depth and dramatic interpretation of my study.

I hope you do enjoy these works as much as I did enjoy creating them.
